Artist Biography:
Having received no official art training beyond high school, Matthew has developed his own artistic technique. He has been guided by studying the work of various artists in both private and public galleries, but his main inspiration is the beauty and intricacy found in creation. Matthew works mostly with oil spanning from thick crunchy texture to creating a smooth and flowing surface, though he also enjoys dabbling in mixed mediums. He greatly enjoys playing with the dynamics of light and shadow, and his work spans from realism to abstraction. The themes which Matthew find most interesting are portraits and the human form, capturing nature’s beauty, exploring the movement and visual manifestation of music, and experimenting with the vast possibilities of constructing surreal and imaginative scenes.
